Applying for Financial Aid

Applying for Institutional Financial Aid

Applying for admission is the first step in the financial aid process. At Howard Payne University, students may apply online at xda9.gregorybgallagher.com/apply. Financial aid cannot be awarded until a student has been admitted to the university. When students apply for admission, they will be automatically considered for one of our Academic Scholarships.

Applying for State and Federal Financial Aid

While not required, all students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility for state and federal financial aid funds as well as some institutional scholarships. Students may apply online in October of each year at http://fafsa.gov for the upcoming year. Remember, you cannot complete this form before October 1st of your senior year in high school. Information needed to file the FAFSA is found using the student’s and parent’s “prior-prior” year tax returns and W2 forms. For example, when completing the 2023-2024 FAFSA, information from the 2021 income tax returns and 2021 W2s will be required. Parents and students must both electronically sign the FAFSA using their FSA IDs. The FSA ID website is http://studentaid.gov  Howard Payne’s school code is 003575. The priority date to submit the FAFSA is March 15.

Admission & Scholarship Policy Related to the new SAT

At Howard Payne University, decisions regarding admission and academic scholarships will be based on the combination of the Math and the Critical Reading sections of the exam. Thus, the Writing section and the Essay section will not be considered in determining automatic admission to the University.
